The UAE based environmental management company Bee’ah recently tied up with Italian firm Ducati Energia to add electric mobile waste collection units to the fleet of waste management division Tandeef. This makes the fleet eco-friendly and enhances the company’s services in Sharjah residential areas.
The one-seater vehicle is said to be capable of handling approximately 200kg of weight, including the driver. ‘Shed-style’ charging stations for the electric vehicles (EVs) will be installed at residential areas in Sharjah. The EVs will also comprise of radiofrequency identification (RFID) technology, in addition to a remote connection linked to the central office that will help monitor the fleet and its operation.
The electric mobile waste collection units also contribute to the improvement of workplace standards and safe practices by limiting the number of employees working under direct sunlight. Commenting on the new Ducati vehicles, Group Chief Executive Officer of Bee’ah, Khaled Al Huraimel said, “Bee’ah is aims for its entire fleet to run on clean energy over the next few years. This new fleet furthers the company’s sustainability agenda through adopting an eco-friendly solution and cementing its commitment to reduce carbon emissions in order to support Bee’ah’s goal of improving air quality for the betterment of living standards in the UAE.”
